Meet Amelia

Clark James BSc Hons; Lic Ac; DipTN; MBAcC
British Acupuncture Council Member & Mental Health Advocate

Clark is deeply passionate about the simple, elegant way that acupuncture can help to release profound emotional and physical blocks.

Our mental health and our bodies are intimately connected — something that often gets overlooked in modern medical practice. Clark found his way to acupuncture after several years of mental health advocacy and fundraising as a volunteer for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity

After graduating from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) with a BSc (Hons) in 5 Element Integrated Acupuncture, and a diploma in Tuina Medical Massage, Clark has continued to study and integrate Applied Channel Theory into his practice.

Clark creates a safe, calm space for people to explore and release their physical and emotional symptoms, along with discussions around lifestyle, and an exploration into Qi gong exercises.

As well as mental health, Clark also treats symptoms which may have originated from an external trauma, such as

musculoskeletal pain, muscle tightness or aches and pains

Clark is a member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), a first aider, and ASIST certified. He has trained in martial arts and kickboxing for over 20 years, and now enjoys training for triathlons, as well as music and playing the handpan at yoga retreats, events, and festivals.

About 5 Element Acupuncture

5 Element Acupuncture has been used for over two thousand years as an effective method of diagnosis and treatment. The system is based on the five elements of nature: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. In this practice these 5 elements represent the different functions and fluctuations of the body, these elements should be in balance for the body to be in harmony.

5 Element Acupuncture works on balancing your internal systems. Balancing the body internally releases blocks, which helps to smooth and balance emotions, and support your mental health. Releasing these blocks can also help to ease chronic pain and physical ailments such as migraines, digestive issues, skin rashes, gynaecological concerns, sleep issues, aches, pains, and many more issues.

This list from British Acupuncture Council draws together the current research for symptoms treated by acupuncture in evidence-based studies. If you do not see your specific symptom and you’re still wondering if acupuncture can help you, please do get in touch to discuss.

Treatment

Plan

Your first session will start with a full diagnosis of your symptoms, and your medical history. This will be followed by an initial treatment. A personalised treatment plan will then be created  depending on your symptoms. Your specific treatment may include techniques ranging from: auricular, moxa, gua sha, cupping, tuina, or electro acupuncture.

Overview

The acupuncture treatment primarily involves fine needles placed at specific points on the meridian lines of the body. If you’ve never had acupuncture before, the needles are so fine the sensation is minimal. Please wear comfortable clothes and comfortable underwear. A gown and blanket will be provided for cover and comfort whilst you receive treatment on the heated bed. The acupuncture points for your treatment will be discussed with you before, so if you’re not comfortable with anything suggested, Clark will make adjustments to suit your needs.

Price

The first session (including diagnosis) takes up to 1.5 hours, and costs £75. All sessions afterwards are up to 1 hour, and cost £65.  Payment can be taken in cash, or bank transfer on the day via details sent by email.

If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment please contact Clark at least 48 hours beforehand. Late cancellations will be charged at the full rate.  Contact can be made through email Click here
